Shortly after I graduated from Cornell, I started receiving monthly issues
of the alumni news magazine. In the back of this publication, grouped by
class year, are recent goings-on of friends of the class busy bodies and
occasionally an announcement from an unrelated third party. The one that
caught my attention was:
Mr. and Mrs. This-was-a-
Polish-name-that-wrapped-
the-column-three-times
announce the birth of their
new daughter. And now with
the birth of their third,
they have one of each.
