The best of Europe

The best of Europe

Well, so far. I haven't done a lot of panoramic photography in Europe yet!

delos-hillside.JPG
(4045 x 600 - 341K)
The full panorama is 8803 x 1306. (44.0 x 7 inches at 200DPI) (Slice at Full-Resolution)

This is the view from a hillside on the Greek island of Delos. Delos contains the ruins of a Roman city. You need to zoom in to see the details on this one, they stretch for quite a distance. You can also see our cruise ship, the Marco Polo out at see. We had to take tenders to the island.

This roll was developed in Turkey at a minilab that wasn't too great. I had baked my film bag and wanted to be sure the films were still OK. Shot with a 50mm lens, there's still some annoying light-fall-off problems. I liked the contrast of the brown countryside and super-blue Aegean Sea.

epidaurus-wide.jpg
(1499 x 600 - 190K)
The full panorama is 3330 x 1333. (16.6 x 7 inches at 200DPI) (Slice at Full-Resolution)

Only a panorama captures the full scope of the amazing ancient amphitheatre at Epidarius. The acoustics in this excavated theatre are superb. From where I'm standing in this hand-held pano, you can still hear somebody speaking quietly at the sweet spot in center stage. 24mm lens, 180 degree view.

Other pictures from this trip can be found in my Black Sea Eclipse Cruise photo-essay.
